German Shepard

Aiyana is a petite German Shepherd rescued in the nick of time from the San Antonio, TX shelter. True to her breed, she’s loyal, loving, and always eager to please. Her heart belongs to those who enjoy gentle walks — her absolute favorite pastime. She’s not much of a player; a cozy spot on the couch, some cuddles, and a daily stroll make her happiest. Aiyana keeps a watchful eye on her home and the people she loves. Though she has hip dysplasia and a quirky metabolism that keeps her slim, she never lets it slow her down. She runs with joy and radiates a beautiful, steady energy.

Dog friendly

This is the heading

Aiyana’s shy at first — she might even crawl to say hi — but she warms up quick! Shelby’s her favorite playmate, and everyone else can take a number. She’d love a mellow male buddy or to soak up all the love as your only fur child.

Cat friendly

This is the heading

Aiyana had never met a cat before. Over time, her curiosity turned into calm acceptance — These days, it’s not unusual to find Aiyana curled up on the couch, peacefully sharing her nap space with one of her feline roommates.

Comfort and attention

Aiyana’s perfect match is someone who enjoys spending time with her — offering gentle attention, a bit of training, and daily walks she loves so much. She’s perfectly content being the only dog, yet also happy to share her life with a calm companion. For a German Shepherd, Aiyana is on the lower-energy side — relaxed, affectionate, and happiest simply being close to her person.

Aiyana's Happily Ever After

How we help to find the forever home

Bringing Hearts and Paws Together

Come meet Aiyana at our sanctuary — take her for a walk or a little ride and see how your hearts connect. To make sure it’s the perfect match, you’re welcome to have her visit your home for a day or two. This helps both of you feel comfortable before making a decision. And if it doesn’t work out, that’s perfectly okay — we completely understand and will gladly welcome her back. Our adoption promise ensures every animal always has a safe place to return to. If life changes or you can no longer care for your pet, they’ll always have a home with us. And if you ever need boarding while you travel, we’re here for that too — so you can enjoy your time away knowing your furry friend is safe, loved, and feeling right at home.

Left Behind, but Never Again!

The shelter was a world of echoes and cold walls — no soft blanket, no toy to hold onto, just a plastic bed and the hum of loneliness. The shelter was a sad place for Aiyana, the noise and harsh smells around her stole any chance of peace. Her food was not served in a bowl instead they just through some kibble in her kennel.
Aiyana was troubled with malnourishment,   an anal fistula, ear infections which the shelter didn’t treat but instead set her on  the euth list immediately.

Aiyana found herself in one of the nation’s most troubled shelters—the San Antonio Animal Shelter in Texas, often criticized for high euthanasia rates, poor conditions, and little time for animals to find rescue.
Fortunately, Aiyana’s luck changed. Local rescuers noticed her sad, gentle eyes and informed us about her. We got her out and she embarked on a trip to Georgia alongside Shelby and Diyani. On December 13, 2024, after a long 32-hour journey, Aiyana finally arrived safely at the Sanctuary.
