SAVE YOUR WALLET AND YOUR PET
The Pet Industry's Profit Playbook
Shelters and rescues across the country are overwhelmed, leading to overcrowded kennels, emotional trauma for dogs and cats, and a heartbreaking rise in euthanasia. Owner surrenders have surged by 60% in 2025, with financial hardship cited as a leading cause. For many families, pet ownership has become a question of affordability, and in today’s challenging economy, some are forced to give up the animals they love. Skyrocketing veterinary costs and unnecessary treatments are major factors driving people to this point.
NaturalPaw.org is an initiative dedicated to offering holistic, affordable alternatives to the conventional veterinary model. We share practical guidance on natural nutrition and home remedies for minor ailments—approaches we use daily at our Marley Animal Sanctuary with remarkable success and minimal vet bills. Our mission is to empower pet owners to break the cycle of commercial pet food, prevent avoidable health problems, and avoid costly veterinary interventions.
The pet industry in the U.S. has grown into an $128-billion-a-year machine, profiting from the way pets are cared for today.
We believe there’s a better way—one that keeps animals healthier, families financially stable, and pets where they belong: at home, loved. We hope our experiences inspire you to care for your companion animals naturally, and without high expenses.
Better Health, Lower Costs: Marley Sanctuary’s Approach
Reconnect with Nature, Revive Our Pet’s Health
At the Marley Pet Sanctuary, we care for animals arriving with severe malnutrition or illness. To help them recover and thrive, every pet receives a fully natural diet, free from processed ingredients.
Animals are designed to flourish naturally, and this approach has produced remarkable health improvements.
Commercial pet food like kibble is highly processed, full of fillers, unhealthy fats and artificial flavors, and created for convenience—not your pet’s well-being.
We use natural diets and home remedies passed down through generations, avoiding pharmaceutical pest treatments that act like pesticides entering pets’ bloodstream. Instead, we add natural supplements such as brewer’s yeast to the food, use safe natural repellent sprays, and focus on strong immune systems—our most effective pest defense. This approach is safer, healthier, and far more cost-effective.
Our pets visit the vet only for serious issues or accidents. In 2025, just one treatment was needed for an accident; all other consultations were spay and neuter surgeries.
Our philosophy is simple: A healthy pet rarely needs the vet. By feeding naturally and supporting immunity, we keep pets thriving, and veterinary costs minimal.
Build the Perfect Bowl: Healthy Meals for Your Dog
Keep the carbs low
Our dogs’ meals are built from whole, natural ingredients: steamed vegetables, berries, raw meats, and simple supplements. If you’re starting out, a large steamer is very useful. At the Marley Pet Sanctuary we steam veggies every other day, and steaming helps preserve important vitamins and minerals that boiling often destroys. We steam for 35–40 minutes.
Dog-friendly vegetables include sweet potatoes, carrots, small amounts of spinach, cabbage, celery, kale, broccoli, and cauliflower. Avoid potatoes because of their high starch, and never feed onions. After steaming, we add a healthy oil such as algae oil or high-quality olive oil.
Our meals use two-thirds vegetables and one-third raw meat, mainly turkey, beef, and organ meats for their rich mineral content. We also add natural supplements: blueberries every other day for antioxidants, algae oil for Omega-3s, and an egg yolk every other day.
A helpful tip: eggshells provide excellent natural calcium. Blend egg yolk, crushed eggshells, blueberries, pumpkin seeds (a natural dewormer), and water into a nutrient-rich sauce to mix into the meal. Do not feed uncooked egg whites—they’re not digestible for dogs or cats.
One or two tablespoons of soaked oats can also be added for fiber and potassium.
A quick tip: Feeding your dog once daily is a powerful way to support longevity and keep them healthier for years.
Nature’s Most Powerful Pet Food Supplements
Blueberries are rich in antioxidants, which help protect cells from damage and support long-term health. They also help prevent inflammation, promote a strong immune system, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases in pets.
Pumpkin seeds are a healthy supplement for pets, packed with minerals like zinc, magnesium, and iron. They support digestion, boost overall health, and act as a natural dewormer, keeping pets strong and parasite-free.
An apple every day keeps the doctor away. Apples are a healthy snack for dogs, rich in fiber and natural nutrients. The pektin supports digestion and helps relieve constipation. Perfect as a tasty, natural treat during the day.
Algae oil is a plant-based source of Omega-3 fatty acids, just as rich as salmon oil. Omega-3 supports healthy skin and coat, reduces inflammation, promotes heart and brain health, and strengthens joints for active, thriving pets.
Turmeric powder is packed with curcumin, a powerful antioxidant that supports joint health, reduces inflammation, and boosts immunity. Adding a pinch of ground black pepper enhances absorption, making it more effective for pets.
Adding a few spoons of pumpkin puree to your pet’s meal can help soothe diarrhea. Rich in fiber and nutrients, it supports healthy digestion, regulates bowel movements, and provides gentle relief for both dogs and cats.
Nature’s Most Powerful Pet Pest Repellents
Inner Armor: How Natural Supplements Defend Your Pet
A natural diet of fresh veggies, berries, and meats is rich in vitamins and minerals, boosting the immune system. Strong immunity is the best internal defense against pests like worms, fleas, ticks, and heartworm-carrying mosquitoes.
Brewer’s yeast is packed with Vitamin A and niacin, creating a natural scent on your pet’s skin that repels pests. Add a tablespoon to your dog or cat’s food—they love it and it helps keep fleas and ticks away naturally.
A small amount of garlic isn’t toxic to dogs and offers natural antiseptic benefits. Just a tiny daily pinch, like brewer’s yeast, creates a subtle scent on their skin that naturally helps repel pests. You can also use garlic powder.

Outer Armor: How Essential Oils Defend Your Pet
Diluted APPLE CIDER VINEGAR can be used as a natural pet spray to repel pests. It’s safe when properly diluted, helps keep fleas and ticks away, and supports healthy skin and a balanced pH for your dog or cat. It helps greatly for yeast infections.
COCONUT OIL is a highly beneficial component to a natural repellent spray for dogs. It nourishes skin, keeps the coat shiny and healthy, and helps naturally repel fleas, ticks, and other pests, providing gentle protection from the outside.
NEEM OIL, made from the seeds of the Azadirachta indica tree found in India, is well-known as a natural repellent in gardening and for dogs. Always use cosmetic-grade neem oil in a repellent spray for safe, healthy protection.
WITCH HAZEL extract, the clear liquid from the plant, has natural soothing and healing properties. Diluted, it calms skin irritation, reduces inflammation, and supports healthy skin, making it ideal for gentle pet care sprays.
TUMERIC OIL is a highly beneficial component to prevent pest. Turmeric’s potent aroma makes it scientifically recognized as one of the best natural repellents for ticks, providing gentle protection from the outside.
CEDAR WOOD OIL in a natural dog spray helps repel fleas, ticks, and other pests. Its gentle, woodsy scent is pleasant for pets while protecting them, making it a safe, natural, and effective addition to homemade repellents.
Rethink Routine Spot-On Applications
Spot-on treatments, also called topical flea and tick treatments, are widely used to control pests in dogs and cats. These chemical solutions are applied directly to the animal’s skin, usually on the back of the neck or between the shoulder blades. Once applied, the active ingredients penetrate the pet’s skin and enter the bloodstream. When fleas, ticks, or other parasites bite, they ingest the chemicals, which are designed to kill the pest quickly.
While effective, this method means that your pet’s bloodstream contains a toxin.
These chemicals can cause side effects in some animals, ranging from mild skin irritation and vomiting to, in rare cases, neurological issues. Pets with existing health conditions, young puppies or kittens, and certain sensitive breeds are particularly at risk.
Research suggests that spot-on treatments are best used sparingly.
A single application can be effective in breaking a flea lifecycle, killing adult fleas and preventing larvae from maturing and multiplying. At the Marley Pet Sanctuary we only use Spot-on-Treatments once when an intake has a major flee infestation.
After this initial intervention, it’s safer to switch to natural pest prevention methods, such as dietary supplements like brewer’s yeast and garlic, or natural sprays using ingredients like coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, neem oil, cedarwood oil etc. as described above.
By combining a one-time chemical intervention with ongoing natural care, pet owners can protect their animals from pests while minimizing exposure to toxins and supporting overall health and immunity.
Results That Speak for Themselves
At the Marley Pet Sanctuary, we practice holistic, natural pet care every day with heartful and honest intentions. While we don’t have scientific proof for everything we share, our experience shows what works.
Located in North East Georgia, our region is hot and humid—a paradise for fleas, ticks, and other pests. All our 7 dogs and 10 cats spend significant time outdoors, yet during the summer of 2025, treating them with natural food and natural pest prevention, not a single flea or tick appeared. Sound almost to good to be true. But it is! This result speaks louder than words, showing that nature’s methods can keep pets healthy while keeping vet costs near zero.
Switching to natural pet care is a mindset change, and your vet may not always support it. But our heartful experience encourages you to give it a try.
Honest care, patience, and respect for natural methods can transform your pet’s health.
Feeding naturally, supporting immunity, and using gentle pest prevention connects you to your pet in a deeper, more compassionate way, proving that sincere, thoughtful care can make a real difference in their well-being and happiness.
